Truth

You must accept the truth from whatever source it comes. Maimonides Slowly but surely, the religious beliefs that we had been dragging with us in the West since the Middle Ages, were eroded with the advent of modernity and positivism. Postmodernity and its relativism put the final nails in the coffin. Suddenly, the paradigm of absolute religious truth was replaced by the acceptance of multiple religious and spiritual truths that were truths when considered in their particular contexts. Even the Roman Catholic Church had to admit that "portions of truth exist outside the Church". Clinging to an absolute religious truth is simply untenable in a globalised world. Science relies on absolute truths: a virus is a virus in every country and language regardless of any other cultural considerations. But perceived metaphysical certainties are far more complex and impossible to pin down and universalise. When it comes to religious beliefs, these are almost by definition mutu...

12:4 Now there are diversities of graces, but the same Spirit; 12:5 And there are diversities of ministries, but the same Lord; 12:6 And there are diversities of operations, but the same God, who worketh all in all. 12:7 And the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man unto profit. 12:8 To one indeed, by the Spirit, is given the word of wisdom: and to another, the word of knowledge, according to the same Spirit; 12:9 To another, faith in the same spirit; to another, the grace of healing in one Spirit; 12:10 To another, the working of miracles; to another, prophecy; to another, the discerning of spirits; to another, diverse kinds of tongues; to another, interpretation of speeches. 12:11 But all these things one and the same Spirit worketh, dividing to everyone according as he will. Corinthians 12:4-11 Thaumaturgy can be described as the ability to change things in the material realm or physical plane. This is done through the invocation of Higher Beings, prayers, sp...

The Fruits of the Spirit

Matthew 6:6 Can one be a Christian on his own terms? Can one be a Catholic a la carte ? The answer to both questions according to the church ( churches) will most definitely be a resounding no. And the church with its esteemed theologians, solid history and powerful infrastructure, holds the weight of this argument in its favour. Christianity is the church. There is no salvation  outside of the church and the church administers the Sacraments. When I say church I don't only mean the Roman Catholic Church or any of the other Apostolic churches, I also mean all the Protestant ones in all their subdivisions, from the Anglican ones to the evangelical ones where one has to register as a member. All these churches, despite their differences, will coincide when it comes to the necessity of the church,...
